The money, which has come from the Big Lottery Fund Community Wildlife Fund, will be used to bring communities together at Northbourne and Lon Gore with their Woodland Trail Project. The project will improve access, enhance habitats and provide entrance signs. It will also create interpretation boards for the community to see what species live in the space and why the area is special.

There will be activity days taking place on site for the community to clear the area and the stream, build footpaths as well as create bat and bird boxes along with loggeries from felled wood.

Community Woodland Open Day on 10th August 2011

The next event taking place in Willow Woods will be the Community Woodland Open Day on Wednesday 10 August at Willows Woods, Long Gore, Farncombe.

The Chainsaw Pirates will be on hand to make sculptures with chainsaws and juggling fire.  There will also be  lots more activities to enjoy including:

• face-painting
• badge making
• woodland workshops
• bug hunting
• as well as constructing bird boxes and feeders.

Refreshments will be served and the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm, is open to all.

The event is also funded by contributions from Godalming Town Council, Southern Housing, GoLo and Surrey County Council.

This is your chance to throw out unwanted or broken items that just wont fit in your bin! a good excuse to have a clear out!

There are certain items that we are not allowed to place in the skips, so please don’t bring them as we have no way to disposing of them, you can however take these items to the local dump.

We will accept bed mattresses after 3pm, If you have large items or are unable to move an item please contact us at least 2 days before the clean up so we can arrange someone to collect it.

As normal we will be meeting in the middle of the estate, where there will be activities for young ones, Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate & Mulled Wine for the Adults, loads of mince pies and much more. We are once again going to hold a competition for the best dressed house so be as creative as you can!

Saturday, November 27. Godalming will be displaying brand new Christmas lights, which are being switched on in the town centre at 4pm. A festive market will be in the High Street between 10am and 4pm accompanied by entertainment at The Pepperpot. Carol singing, Christmas music performances and entertainers as well as visits from Father Christmas will be taking place as well as a free park and ride service at Godalming College and the Meadrow Car Park beside the Leathern Bottle pub.

Saturday, November 27. Farnham will celebrate with Abi Titmuss and Andrew Agnew switching on its Christmas lights at Gostrey Meadow, off Union Road, at 5.30pm. Refreshments will be on sale from 2pm along with a large arts, crafts and charity market providing a great opportunity to buy Christmas gifts. There will be children’s rides, a live animal display and Santa will be available for visits to his grotto. A large performance stage will be the centre of entertainment with schoolchildren and choirs singing carols.

Saturday, November 27. Farnborough has booked Santa himself to switch on its Christmas lights at the Princes Mead Shopping Centre, at 4.30pm. Entertainment starts at 11am, including free face painting, balloon modelling, live music and Postman Pat will be making a special appearance to pass on children’s letters to Santa.

Saturday, November 27. Cranleigh Village Hall, 10am – 4pm. Christmas sales for wildlife. Meet wildlife artist and conservationist, David Shepherd CBE, and ask him to sign those extra special presents at our fabulous Christmas Shopping Day in aid of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. Buy from a large selection of wildlife art including original paintings and limited edition prints, memberships and endangered animal adoptions, cards and gifts.
